In 2019, the City of La Crosse Common Council passed a resolution which set a goal of reaching carbon neutrality community-wide, in both energy and transportation by 2050.  In December 2022,  the City completed the Climate Action Plan with the goal to reduce City operations and community-wide GHG emission reduction goals are to reduce community-wide GHG emissions by 40% to 50% below 2019 levels by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
